Wood nettle, also known as Laportea canadensis, is a plant species that belongs to the nettle family. It's a perennial herbaceous plant with prickly leaves and grows up to two meters tall. The plant is commonly found in woodlands, damp areas, and along streams. Wood nettle is also known by various other names like stinging nettle, hollow nettle, and Canadian nettle. The stinging nettle name comes from its prickly leaves which release histamines when they come in contact with the skin. Hollow nettle arises from the fact that its stem is hollow.
