Peony is a beautiful flowering plant that is popular all around the world. It is also known as Paeonia and has been a symbol of honor, prosperity and romance in many cultures. There are several synonyms for the word peony that are used in different regions. In Asia, it is called 牡丹 (mǔdān) in Chinese, ボタン (botan) in Japanese, and 속국 (sokguk) in Korean.
