An intraperitoneal pregnancy can also be referred to as a peritoneal pregnancy or an abdominal pregnancy. This is a rare type of ectopic pregnancy where the fertilized egg implants itself outside of the uterus in the peritoneal cavity. Other synonyms for this condition could be a tubal pregnancy or an extrauterine pregnancy as the egg usually implants in the fallopian tubes. Unfortunately, an intraperitoneal pregnancy is difficult to diagnose and can cause severe health complications for the mother if left untreated. It is important to seek medical attention immediately if there is suspected ectopic pregnancy.
